We got a little snow...
emphasis on little.

And for those of you who tell me I'm little, I think you'll like this picture. I think I'm starting to pop out more! And I think my face is definately starting to get puffy.

It's been awhile...
It seems that I’m not so great at keeping this updated (procrastination is my spiritual gift). We’ve turned around and suddenly it’s January and I don’t know where the time went. Christmas season proved to be more challenging with the pregnancy this year. I’m just not able to motor around the way I would like and my stamina rivals that of an 87 year old. My truly mobile hours are from 7:30am to 8:30pm. Before and after that, I’m about as useful as, say, a draft dodger. Novel, serves it’s purpose, but more or less just sits there.
Chris is the complete opposite. Now that we’re “home”, he can’t sit still. Literally he has to force himself to stay in bed past 4am. If there were sunlight, he’d be out at 4:02. (Our little one to-be seems to take after him…kicking me early each morning…I think she’s bored.). After Christmas, Chris woke up one morning and said, “It’s been a good 4 weeks since we’ve done any major earth moving…I think I’ll build another pond.” And he did.
For our anniversary weekend he rented a 35k pound CAT excavator and dug a pond that is a ½ acre, around 10-15 feet deep, to be stocked with fish (for catching, as opposed to the “little” koi pond, which is just for watching the fish and frogs). This guy and his ponds. I don’t know what to do with him. Our friend Chad who did the excavating for the house came up for a day to help Chris with the dozer, finishing and refining the project. We got a ton of rain soon after and everything held, so we’re in good shape.
We’re in our third trimester of pregnancy (finally) and although we’ve been blessed with an uneventful one until now, things are getting very uncomfortable for me. I’ve always worried about having scoliosis and being pregnant, and what complications that would bring. I’m fortunate that I was pain-free for most of the pregnancy, and only in the past few weeks have things gotten bad. My back just isn’t equipped for this sort of strain. Mostly, if I’m standing or lying on my side, I’m ok. But sitting for more than 20 minutes is agony. Thank God for Tylenol. I saw the anesthesiologist and have been thoroughly warned that an epidural is possible, but not likely to help with the pain during labor. Because of the curve in my back, the medicine may disperse on one side and not the other. My understanding is that this is a risk with any woman, but more-so for women with scoliosis. So we’ll see.
Meanwhile, SHE is a ball of activity rumbling around inside me. I think she’s like Chris already, not liking just hanging out and developing. She does NOT like monitors or anything on her; she takes a good swat at them and moves away. When Chris tries to feel her kick, she stops immediately. Once he takes his hand off, she’s jiggin’ away. It’s become our nightly entertainment to watch her thump against the outside of my belly. Her latest tricksare "the shark" and hiccups. Hiccups are cute at first, but then turns a bit to Chinese water torture after almost an hour! The shark is a new thing now that space is getting cramped in the belly. Instead of short jabs we see a limb move from one side to the other, like a shark fin in water. We’ve started to work on her nursery and my nesting instinct has begun, although currently it’s playing out mostly in cooking.
Chris is being very supportive of my pregnant limitations, often going above and beyond just to help. Each morning he brings me my corn chex in bed, then makes my tea, has made my lunch for me here and there and even starts my car to warm up before I leave for work. He won’t let me carry anything, and is pitching in with the housework. I found him awake and doing dishes at 6am this morning, and he said he was being helpful until he could go outside and mill around…his favorite thing to do.
Other than that, everything is fine! I am 100% baby, having gained only 19.5 pounds so far. We’ll see what the home stretch brings in that area. I may blow up like a balloon yet!

Enjoy the pics!

It's true- Chris found camo maternity pants and insisted I have them.
